Book Recommendation by Alistair Cross – THE SERVANTS OF TWILIGHT by Dean Koontz

In The Servants of Twilight, Dean Koontz is in top form as he thrusts the reader into the world of religious zealotry when a mother, Christine, and her son, Joey, are confronted by a very creepy old woman during what proves to be a not-so-typical trip to the store. The old woman in question, Grace Spivey (or Mother Grace, as she’s known to her followers) believes that young Joey is the Antichrist – and that he must die in order to save humanity. As Mother Grace’s efforts escalate, Christine gets no help from the local police and she enlists the help of a PI, Charlie, who quickly takes as much interest in Christine as he does in helping her protect her son.

It’s been twenty years since I first read this book, and having re-read it recently, it stands the test of time. With memorable characters, an intriguing plot, and descriptions so powerful you’ll feel the winter wind biting your bones, this is the good old-fashioned classic Koontz that put him on the map and made fans of millions. A solid, exciting, worthwhile read for anyone who loves thrillers, mystery, horror, and even romance.
